LOOKS like ABS-CBN's new fair-haired girl is reallly Bea Alonzo, who's said to be so level-headed compared to Kristine Hermosa who someone tagged as "maraming kakiyemehan."
Bea captured the public's attention with her winsome beauty and acting prowess in such short a time, even winning the best new movie actress award in the Star Awards early this year for her debut flick, "First Time."
As she celebrated her 17th birthday last Monday, she was presented at ABS as the main image model of Porsche Jeans and Tops that bills her as the Denim Princess. And with the success of her second movie, "Now That I Have You," she's now being paired with the station's top homegrown actor, Piolo Pascual, in a new romantic drama they're now filming.
Obviously, the ploy is for her not to be overly identified with just one leading man, John Lloyd Cruz, her partner in her soap operas who's now rumored to be seriously wooing Heart Evangelista. How does she feel about this?
"Lloydie is free to court whoever he fancies dahil wala naman kaming commitment sa isa't isa," she says. At 17, the world seems to be at her feet. What is her birthday wish? "Actually, it's not a wish because I might just get disappointed if I'd wish for something. What I have is new goals for my 17th year. First is I promise to give my best in all the projects that ABS is assigning me. I owe that to them after all the trust and the good breaks that they're giving me. Next, I want to go back to school and finish my high school studies kahit sa home study program lang. I've neglected it for the past two years and I wish I could somehow squeeze my lessons in between my hectic schedules."
Other fashion lines get foreign stars like Mandy Moore and Alicia Silverstone as their image model. How come Porsche chose Bea?
"In her first year with us, Bea helped us achieve our goal, which is to create public awareness of Porsche, and we're now in the top ten brands," says Porsche boss, Patrick Lu. "Bea embodies the image we'd like to project, which is simply perfect as she projects a simple but elegant image."
Who are the people Bea would like to thank for her success so far? "First is God, who gives me so many blessings and all the strength I need when I have problems. Then my mom, who's always there to guide me, and my manager, Tito Archie Ilagan, who's like a father to me."
Where does that place John Lloyd who helped her make a name for herself with their tandem in "Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay"? "He'd be among the top five people na pasasalamatan ko. And of course, there's ABS-CBN."
