^ Teen Stars: There's No Stopping Bea!
Aug. 01, 2004

(Webmaster's Note: The reporter got the wrong age for Bea - she's only turning 17 this year.)

She surely does possess one of the prettiest faces, if not the prettiest in show business, but actually there's more to Bea Alonzo than her being good looks.

Phylbert Angellie Ranollo in real life, Bea Alonzo took the local showbiz industry by surprise!

The year 2003 has been a bliss for this beautiful young lass who made the entire nation give her their full attention. It was perhaps because of her critically acclaimed portrayal as Katrina Argos, an awkward, nerdy, young girl turned feisty law student in ABS-CBN's highly-rated soap Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay.

At the young age of 15, she gave good justice to the character that teleserye buffs come to love. Bea managed to shine on her own and stole the scene to the teleserye's powerhouse cast headed by Lorna Tolentino and Jean Garcia.

With her outrageous performance, not just the people from the industry took notice for her pure talent but all the more, the avid viewers of the said soap. Barely a couple of years in the industry, the 17-year old actress gained a huge number of followers and has become one of the most popular young stars in the land.

Tracing her humble beginnings, Bea said that it was a really dream for her to become an actress. But first, she had to use her convincing powers for her mother Mary Ann to allow her to audition for the star network's Talent Center. When mommy finally said "yes" Bea was made to promise that she would not take her studies for granted. So she worked hard and did both at the same time: followed her passion to be an actress and did well in her schooling just to make her mommy proud.

Since a natural charmer and a real talent, Bea landed a spot and became the youngest member of the Star Circle Batch 10 at the age of 14. She admitted though that her way to stardom was never easy. She had gone through rigorous acting workshops and didi just about everything to improve her craft. But she came to a point wherein she felt so down because most for her batchmates were given their breaks and she was not.

Then came the show K2BU wherein she co-starred with Shaina Magdayao, Angelene Aguilar and Pia Romero. But then again, after the show bade television goodbye. Bea was left with nothing to do. Again came the feeling of depression. But mommy, as always, gave her the courage to stay through.

Bea's "accidental" break came in June 2002 when the hit teleserye Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay first waved primetime television. Not only did her character gave her a sweet sounding name, but her team up as well with equally talented young actor John Lloyd Cruz made a great impact on the viewers.

The overwhelming response of the fans made them known as today's hottest loveteam, which actually gave them the recognition of Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation as the Most Popular Loveteam of 2004.

With her great acting prowess, Bea was nominated as Best Actress in the 17th Star Awards for TV. Although she did not win, the nomination was enough to prove that this budding talent will hit big time someday.

Bea expanded her horizon as she was not only able to show her acting abilities on television but in the silver screen as well.

In October 2003, the blockbuster twinbill movie, My First Romance, hit the big screen. The touching story about rediscovering the joys of falling in love after a painful loss of a former lover was actually Beas film debut which included her loveteam John Lloyd Cruz and screen partners John Prats and Heart Evangelista in the cast, with John D. Lazatin and Don Cuaresma at the helm.

Always the great actress that she is, Bea was given recognition for her performance in the said film and was honored as PMPC's Best New Movie Actress.

Meanwhile, a sure-fire new box office flick is being cooked for the country's hottest pair. Entitled Now That I Have You, the new John Lloyd-Bea romantic, feel-good starrer will also cast ABS-CBN talents Nikki Valdez, Kristopher Peralta and Lui Villaluz.

There's really no stopping the vibrant belle. Aside from her latest film, her occupied sched is due to her numerous television commitments which include her top-rating teleserye It Might Be You, of course with partner John Lloyd. The "couple" also hosts ASAP Mania every Sunday. And Bea also appears in the other show of the star network and is also busy endorsing many different products, (one of which is the new feminine pads CHARMEE) establishments and services.

For sure, Bea is having the time of her life. She's not only getting breaks that she deserves, she's also enjoying the attention that her millions of fans is giving her. Nor only that, Bea's "dreamhouse" is almost done. It is, of course, an addition to her accomplishments that she's able to build a house from her own earnings.

The vibrant lass will turn 18 on October 17, 2005. As a simple lady that she is, Bea wants a quiet, simple celebration with her family and friends closest to her heart.
