That's what friends are for.
That might as well be the motto of Nikki Valdez, Kristoffer Peralta and Lui Villaruz who play the best friends of John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo's in Star Cinema's modern-day romance "Now That I Have You," directed by Laurenti Dyogi from a screenplay by Jose Javier Reyes.
"Now That I Have You" is the heart-warming story of Betsy Rallos (Bea) and Michael Moralles (John Lloyd) whose romance starts and blooms during rush hour when everybody is scrambling over another for a seat at the MRT. Betsy and Michael board the same train everyday, on the same situation, and it is inevitable for them to get to know each other. Betsy gets infatuated with Michael whom she envisions to be her ideal man, only to discover that he's her exact opposite. Betsy is fun-spirited, a hopeless romantic, while Michael is an uptight realistic guy. But opposite do attract each other, don't they? How the two rediscover each other and uncover their compatible points constitute the dramatic and colorful highlights of this romance.
John Lloyd and Bea's romance blossoms with the help of their friends.
Nikki plays Stefi, the best friend who never fails to dish out pieces of advice and strategies to Betsy on how to keep a man.
"Ive been a typecast as the main character's best friend and I don't mind," said Nikki, 23, described herself as 'ang best friend ng lahat."
Once linked to Troy Montero, Nikki said that she has become a better actress after their break-up having experienced "some pain." She has shown her mettle in movies like "Tanging Ina" as Ai Ai de las Alas' concerned sibling, "Got 2 Believe" as Claudine Barretto's assistant in a wedding-design business and in the ABS-CBN's "Ok, Fine Whatever" as the jologs who doubles as a maid.
Cast in "Now That I Have You" as the friends of Michael Moralles are Kristoffer Peralta and Lui Villaruz who both started in showbiz as members of Star Circle (batches 3 and 5 respectively).
Kristoffer, 24, plays the skirt-chasing Jacob who has a tip or two for Michael on how to keep a girl.
"Unlike me," said Kristoffer, "Jacob is makulit and a chickboy. But he's a natural, like me."
Lui plays the heterosexual Martin who has his own surefire tips for Michael.
"Martin is friendly and I'm like him on that score," said Lui, 23, who also writes scripts, and was seen in such Star Cinema movies as "Dahil Mahal na Mahal Kita" and "Till There was You."
Other members of the cast are Jojit Lorenzo, Noel Colet and Cholo Escaño.
