Bea is in the eyes of the beholder
After more than two years in show business, she has become one of the most visible and busiest young stars. She is seen everyday on the boob tube. Her TV series It Might Be You (with John Lloyd Cruz) is a consistent top rater. In the early months of airing, it maintained the no. 1 spot among soap dramas.

The Bea-John Lloyd romance rollercoaster is on an all-time high. They are now finishing the movie Beacause of You (working title), to be released sometime next month. It serves as a follow-up to their first loveteam flick, First Romance.

“Actually, I’m excited and at the same time nervous and pressured ,” related the teenage beauty. “In this movie , talagang nakafocus lang sa aming dalawa ni John Lloyd. Unlike before na may kasama kaming pair (Heart Evangelista and John Prats). I hope maging successful ito.”

Bea tell us that her working relationship with John Lloyd has been better than ever before. “Maybe that’s the reason why we click so well on screen, plus the fact that we also have a good story in our teleserye. Expect more twists in the coming days. Lalo naming pinaganda ang takbo ng istorya.”

Rocky Road
It seems only yesterday when she was introduced to the public as one of the members of Star Circle Batch 10. Since the launch she has gained more confidence and learned many experiential things. “ I want to believe that I’ve matured dahil sa mga pinagdaanan ko sa trabahong ito. Hindi naman kaagad nagging ganito ang pagtanggap sa akin when I started, especially before Kay Tagl Kang Hinintay came, she tells us.

“And I think all those experiences helped me to be more effective in portraying the roles given to me, “ she adds. “Kaya siguro lagi nila akong pinapaiyak sa set, at yan ang character ni Cielo (her role in It Might Be You), madaling umiyak dahil sa mga pagsubok na kanyang dinadaanan.

“ At this point in my acting career, I prefer doing drama than comedy. For me, it’s easier to cry than to make people laugh. Mas kinakabahan ako pag nagkocomedy kasi hindi mo alam kung magugustuhan ng mga tao yung ginagawa mo at kung mapapatawa mo yung mga nanonood. Pero pag drama, mas madaling umiyak.”

As the Most Promising Young Actress in this year’s Star Awards, Bea syas she is more inspired now to improve her work and to further prove to the moviegoing public that she deserves the award. ‘At sana makakuha pa ako ng bigger awards in the future, kasi hindi naman ako palstik para sabihin ko na okey na ako sa natanggap kong award. Syempre marami pa akong goals na gustong maabot sa trabaho ko,” she explains.

With the overwhelming success of her tandem with John Lloyd, Bea honestly admits that she doesn’t know until when the public will support the duo. “But as long as there are people who believe in us , we will do out best para mas magustuhan nila ang loveteam naming. Mas pagbubutihan pa naming ang trabaho para Makita nila na we are growing as artists. As you can see, there’s no conscious effort or gimmick in our relationship. Kung ano lang yung dapat gawin naming in front of the camera, yun lang ang pinapakita naming. Remember, when we started, nobody expected that this loveteam would be a hit. It just happened. And maybe that’s the reason why people like it. We have a different chemistry together on screen.”

Any intrigues lately? “Hindi naman masyado, especially pag alam ko na wala akong ginagawang masama, “she repleies. “Ang intriga lang naman sa akin ay yung tungkol sa Mama ko na may pagka-stagemother. Kaya ngyon, hindi na siya sumasama sa set. Naiiwan na lang siys at inaayos ang bahay ta inaasikaso na lang yung minigarden niya. Busy din siya sa pamimili ng mga gamit para sa bahay.”.

The future looks bright
With her earnings, she has turned to investments, like the three-bedroom townhouse she just bought. She has got a new car, and placed the rest of her savings in the bank.

In the near future, she plans to buy her own house and lot. “ Although marami pa akong gustong gawin at maachieve sa aking career ngayon. I don’t see showbiz to be a lifetime career. Sabi nga nila I’m still young , so I believe na marami pa akong gustong gawin sa ibang field naman. And of course, I want to finish my studies, : she defends. She will soon start hosting the newly reformatted Saturday show Tara Tena.

At sweet 16, Bea confirms that she’s loveless. But she never denies that she has suitors, and mostly non-showbiz. She also reaffirms her statement before in a previous interview that John Lloyd has all the qualities that a girl would look for ina a guy. “Pero kung liligawan niya ako , hindi ko alam kung sasagutin ko siya . Siguro depende. Basta ngayon, wala pa akong panahon para makapag-boyfriend. Kung studies ko nga hindi ko maasikaso, boyfriend pa kaya, “ she declares.
